Hooray for Heels!

Day 109 –

Well today was the big day for me shoe-wise.  I wore heels.  Not the sky high, skinny “How do you walk in those?!” heels, but more of a pump.  So maybe 2.5 inches if that.  So the heels were fine to walk in around the restaurant and the surrounding area.  My knee held up very well and I could feel my thigh muscle working with each step to keep me steady and stable and isn’t that really what PT has been working to do as well… Maybe I should just walk around in heels all day and just charge my insurance for heels!!  So, after dinner we went for a walk around the park and there was my downfall.  I wanted to walk down to this one nice area and there is a bit of a hill to go down.  But I figured if I take it easy that it would be just fine and it was… until I remembered that I had to walk back UP the hill and then I wasn’t so good.  I didn’t think I was going to make it to be perfectly honest.  So after a grueling and slightly embarrassing huff and puff up the hill, I was so flippin exhausted!!  I slept in the car for while till we got back home and then I was ready for sleep.  See you tomorrow… I’m tired and sore and have plans for tomorrow.

Walkin' More

Day 108-

Today, I went out for bit with my mom and despite going to a couple stores shopping for the afternoon I didn’t take my crutches though I did use the shopping cart (not to be confused with those motorized carts) while in the store.  Surprisingly, I did pretty darned good.  I moved slowly at first but ended up doing pretty good and was able to start out and about for several hours.  I didn’t want to push it too much since I know tomorrow I will be going out in heels for the first time since the surgery.  However, I felt pretty confidante walking around that I should be able to do this unaided walking more and more.  Finally, it feels like things are looking up.

Cleaning Up

Day 107

So today, after spending the past couple of days mostly laid up I had noticed that my apartment was starting to look a bit “gross”.  Not that there’s pizza on the ceiling and beer cans strewn about the place but things like dishes in the sink, strainer and on the cupboards and stove.  Towels and clothing strewn about the bathroom and the bedroom.  Various wrappers and take out containers around the house.  So, really, in a word… “messy”.  So, I mustered up strength and got to cleaning up.  However, with still being sore it was more like “get up, pick up for 20 minutes or so, sit down for about half an hour and repeat”.  It makes the process slow and what I could usually do in just a couple of hours takes several days.  But despite the slow start I did manage to get more finished than I thought I would.  With that in mind, I’m now going to go finish those dishes that are soaking in the sink!

Short Thought

Day 106-

So after taking it easy yesterday and the day before, I went to PT today.  My therapist had me take it easy today since I’m still a little sore from that pop but I am much less pain that I was just a couple days ago.  I’ve been watching that one spot on my knee where the scar is pulling and even though I keep massaging it like I’ve been taught but it just doesn’t  seem to be loosening up.  I’m planning on keeping it easy again today when I get home.  So with that in mind, not really much else to discuss today.
